Senior Scholarship Awarded at South Lamar Senior Night

For the past few years, the chamber has endeavored to help the youth in our community accomplish their educational goals. We usually ask seniors to write about why our community is the best place to live. This year, we had them write about how they specifically could make our community a better place. They did not disappoint.

Among the applicants, Jordyn Foster caught our attention when she described how she has been working in her community. The fundraisers and beautification projects for South Lamar's campus were obviously amazing, but what really stood out were the small things--what we at the Chamber call the "dirty work." This is work that needs to be done, but nobody wants to do it: picking up trash, scraping gum from park benches, sweeping up, etc. Jordyn talked about taking the time to do this dirty work, and how even the smallest contributions make our community a better place.

We were honored to give Jordyn a $500 scholarship, and we wish her the best!

Congratulations to all the seniors of 2025!
